Hi Everyone,
Pierluigi thanks so much for contributing your recording expertise
and finding facilities. Andrea, Antonio, Sara and Daria made a very
interesting recording of Daria's voice. We spent a considerable
amount of time in class yesterday discussing the importance of quality.
When you record Daria's voice, please make sure that:
1. the crying does not border on laughter
2. record in stereo
3. save a version that is unaltered --- not normalized
4. make a version that is compressed --- the details will be lost in
the atrium or bathroom, so dynamic compression will help quite a bit.
You probably thought about most of these points, but I am reiterating
just to make sure that we save time.
If for some reason we cannot record Daria at the Conservatory, then
please let me know and we can record at my home, or any location that
you think is suitable nearby.
I have a $300 XLR/phantom powered Edirol adapter that works with a
laptop with FireWire. I only have one mic, that sounds pretty good
with horns, but I have not tried it with voice. I do not have a mic
stand.
Marco -- If you would like to try to record with my Edirol box, then
you will need to find a good pair of stereo mics and stands.
Best regards,
Neil
